Landersheim

Landersheim is a commune of 193 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Bas- Rhin in the Alsace region. It belongs to the community association Région de Saverne.

Geography

Landersheim located 11 kilometers southeast of Saverne.

History

In the 16th century Landersheim fief was the family of Mittelhausen. Felix from Mittelhausen led back to 1575 Protestantism in Landersheim. The last of Mittelhausen died to 1634.

Demographics

Most inhabitants of the municipality had 1821 (235), then the number of inhabitants declined. 1954 and 1975, the community had the least population (104). After 1975, the town grew.

Attractions

The church of Saint - Cyriaque 1454 was mentioned for the first time in a document, but then she was ordained Ulrich of Augsburg. 1804 Saint Cyriacus the new patron of the church. The present nave was rebuilt in 1756. The choir is dated in 1768. A vestry was added in 1828.

A round of public washing place ( Lavoir ), which was first mentioned in 1821, but possibly dates from the second half of the 18th century, fed by a spring. Its diameter is about five meters.

The water mill of Landersheim bears the date 1808. Residential house and stables were built during this period, but the actual mill dates from the 12th century. It is driven by a stream called Rohrbach.
