Landskron Castle

The Landskron castle is located northeast of Villach, on the western entrance to the Ossiacher Tauern on the plateau of a rock cone that rises 135 m above the plane. Below the castle rock, the village of St. Andrae lies at the western end of Lake Ossiach, close to the local part of Villach Landskron.

The castle is a bird show where public birds of prey shows are held during the summer months.

History

Around 800 BC, was found immured in the Crown Room of the castle a certificate of settlement by various finds, such as burial mounds, stone inscriptions and swords.

878 was the record of a gift of property to the Bavarian monastery Altötting. In 1028, Count Ozzi and his foundation Ossiach landlord and the Count von Sternberg was the construction of a castle.
