Lane County (Kansas)

Lane County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Dighton. Dighton is the only city in Lane County. The county is one of the Dry counties, which means that the sale of alcohol is restricted or prohibited.

Geography

The County is located in west-central Kansas and has an area of 1858 square kilometers, of which one square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Gove County, Ness County, Finney County, and Scott County.

History

Lane County was formed on 20 March 1873. It was named after James H. Lane, a U.S. Senator from Kansas.
