Lanester

Lane Rochester, Breton: Lannarstêr, is a commune with 22 164 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Morbihan in the Brittany region. It belongs to Arrondissement Lorient, the Communauté d' agglomération du Pays de Lorient and is the capital (Chef -lieu ) of the Canton Lane Rochester.

Geography

The city Lanester lies at the mouth of the Scorff in the estuary of the Blavet. The highest point is located at 51 meters above sea level. The neighboring municipalities are Lorient Caudan, Hennebont, Kervignac and Locmiquélic.

History

The municipality was created in 1909 from the southern part of the municipality of Caudan.
