Langen Jarchow

Long Jarchow is a small community in the north of the county Ludwigslust - Parchim in Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). It is administered by the Office Sternberg Lake District with headquarters in the city Sternberg.

Geography and transport

The municipality is located in a hilly landscape between the Neuhof lake in the north and the Keezer Sea to the south. Other lakes are not available in the municipality. Larger forest areas are not available. The highest point in the municipality is an unnamed elevation southwest of small Jarchow at 66 m above sea level. NHN. About the Federal Highway 192 is the Connection Zurow reached ( distance 18 km ) of the Baltic Sea motorway A 20 (Lübeck - Stettin). The nearest large city Brüel is six kilometers away.

History

Near an urn field was discovered from the Early Iron Age. A burial ground of late Roman Iron Age (the " clasp of Häven " ) was excavated. Is first mentioned in the congregation as a fief from Martin of Mallin. In 1509, the area comes to the monastery Tempzin. Since 1794, and until the Second World War Langen Jarchow belonged to the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg. After 1945 the town belonged only to the state of Mecklenburg and then from 1952-1990 for the district of Schwerin.
