Langenegg

Langenegg is a municipality with 1096 inhabitants (December 31, 2013) in the Austrian province of Vorarlberg.

Geography

Langenegg is located in the westernmost province of Austria, Vorarlberg, in the district of Bregenz southeast of Lake Constance. 38.6 % of the area is forested. The place is a member of the German - Austrian joint project Nagelfluhkette National Park.

Langenegg divided into the cadastral Oberlangenegg and Unterlangenegg.

The community Langenegg borders five other municipalities in Vorarlberg. These communities also located in the district of Bregenz are clockwise starting in the north, Doren, Krumbach, Hittisau, Lingenau and Alberschwende.

History

The Habsburgs ruled the areas in Vorarlberg changing of Tyrol and Further Austria from ( Freiburg im Breisgau). From 1805 to 1814, the town belonged to Bavaria, then back to Austria. For the Austrian state of Vorarlberg Langenegg heard since the foundation in 1861. The place was from 1945 to 1955 part of the French zone of occupation in Austria. On July 6, 2010 Langenegg was winner of the competition for the 11th European Village Renewal Award.

The proportion of foreigners in 2002 was 7.1%.

Culture and sights

2007 and 2009, nine artists from Austria, Italy, Germany and Switzerland have a tree of choice - still standing in the forest, lying dedicated as the root or in the form of wood chips. A total of 18 sculptures have been created and can be visited along the railway line of the woods path as a string of pearls strung. Coat of arms

The coat of arms was created in 1969 after a design by the artist and Schrunser heraldist Konrad Honold.

Policy

The municipal council consists of 15 members. The choice was made not by party lists, but by a majority vote. Mayor Georg Moosbrugger (since 3 October 2006). The municipality revenue from taxes and other charges in 2001 were at € 1,037,461, the municipal expenditure at € 2,612,389. The debt was 2001 1.670.818 €.

Economy and infrastructure

At the site there were in 2003 16 companies in the industrial sector with 92 employees and four apprentices. Taxable wage -employed, there were 429 agriculture plays an important role. The proportion of agricultural land in the total area is 54.6 %.

Education

Locally there is a school with 107 students (as of November 2006) and a kindergarten.
