Langi people

The Langi (singular Lango ) are a people in northern Uganda, the center of the district capital Lira ( city) is. In Uganda, approximately 2,100,000 Langi live. The area was formerly called the Langi Lango District and today comprises the districts of Apac, Oyam, Lira, Dokolo and Amolatar.

The best known members of the Langi were Milton Obote, the first president after independence, Uganda, and John Akii - Bua, winner and world record holder in the 400 - meter hurdles at the 1972 Olympics in Munich.
