Langlade County, Wisconsin
The Langlade County is a county located in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. In 2010, the County had 19,977 inhabitants and a population density of 8.8 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Antigo, named after the Indian word for clear water.
Geography
The County is located in the central northeastern Wisconsin and has an area of 2300 square kilometers, of which 39 square kilometers are water surface. At the Langlade County borders the following Nachbarcountys:
History
The Langlade County was formed in 1879 under the name New County as original County from parts of the Wisconsin Territory. It was named after Charles de Langlade, a hero of the American Revolutionary War and later Indian agents of the U.S. government.
Population
According to the census in 2010 lived in Langlade County 19,977 people in 8794 households. The population density was 8.8 people per square kilometer. In the 8794 households lived statistically 2.23 per person.
The racial the population was composed of 96.5 percent white, 0.5 percent African American, 1.3 percent Native American, 0.4 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 1.3 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 2.0 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
20.2 percent of the population were under 18 years old, 58.6 percent were between 18 and 64 and 21.2 percent were 65 years or older. 49.8 percent of the population was female.
The median income for a household was $ 42,958. The per capita income was $ 23,064. 13.2 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
