Languages of Ã…land
The Åland Islands, an autonomous region, are the part of Finland, in which the Swedish-speaking Finland Sweden account for the largest share of the population. Around 25,000 people, representing 90 % of the population speak Swedish as their mother tongue. The Åländisch spoken on Åland is a dialect of the Swedish kingdom; it has some unique features compared to the rich Swedish standard language. Swedish is the only official language in Åland. Finnish is the mother tongue of around 5 % of the population.
