Lankaran Lowland

The Lenkoraner lowlands ( Azerbaijani Lənkəran ovalığı ) is a Lowland in southeast Azerbaijan, located between the Talysh Mountains and the Caspian Sea.

The Lenkoraner valley is 25 to 30 km in the north and from 5 to 6 km wide in the south. It is one of the limited on Transcaucasia areas with feuchttropischem climate. The soil consists of yellow and yellow podsolierten earth and from marsh and meadow soils.

The forests are subtropical broadleaf forests, but in comparison to Colchis without evergreen understory. In the 20th century the valley was largely transformed from a swampy, malaria-infested area in a growing zone of subtropical intensive crops. There are grown tea, citrus fruits, rice and vegetables.

Industrially tea leaves and wood are processed and prepared fruit and canned fish. Urban centers of the region are the port cities Lənkəran, Astara and Masallı.
