Lannoy (Nord)

Lannoy (Latin: Lanoia ) is a commune with 1793 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Nord, in the Nord -Pas -de -Calais. It is the capital of the canton of Lannoy.

Geography

The municipality is the fourth smallest municipality of France as well as small art headquarters of a canton. Therefore, the community is with 8535 inhabitants per km ², the most densely populated outside the capital region of Île -de -France. The community has only two neighboring communities: Lys -lez- Lannoy and Hem. Lannoy is well connected to the national road network. In addition Lannoy is served by bus lines of the Trans Pole.

History

The name of the village was first mentioned in the form Lannoit 1233. The church is built in 1458 by Johann von Lannoy into a fortress. During industrialization, some companies have settled in Lannoy.
