Lans, Tyrol

Lans is a municipality with 957 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Innsbruck Land, Tyrol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Innsbruck.

Geography

The place is located eight kilometers south of Innsbruck, on the eastern mountain range, at the foot of the Patscherkofel ( 2246 m).

The Lanser See, now a popular recreation area for Innsbruck, was created during the Ice Age and is fed by underground springs. Significantly, summer tourism is with the golf course Sperberegg and the health center Lanserhof.

On the outskirts, the central mountain path leads past that connects Lans with the neighboring Igls and Innsbruck.

History

The place name comes from the opinion of linguists probably the Illyrian language.

Lans is located on the old Salt Road and is mentioned in a document of 1180 for the first time as " Lannes ".

The coat of arms granted in 1983 showing with miter and lance the attributes of the parish 's patron saint, St. Lambert, and refers to the water lily on a blue background on the Lake Lans and the water lily pond.
