Below Merkelbach it passes through the Eschenauer limestone quarry and then reached to about 355 m above sea level. Sea level and 3.8 km from the right Buhler.

Catchment area

The catchment area of the lance Bach comprises about 4.7 km ² and is, apart from narrow edge strip against Franken Hardter area, primarily on Vellberger district. There is a wide depression in gypsum Keuper and Lower Keuper, on approximately the first half of two western mountain projections, right Hackenberg, the valley follows the Vellberger Schlegelsberg, and left Hahnberg, which expires in Hammerberg, only in the area of the quarry reaches the Upper Muschelkalk and is accompanied, which reach up to the pebbly sandstone at least. At the top Hackenberg a slope soil is linear torn down and slid downhill. At the top increase the pebbly sandstone is everywhere forest, at the bottom show the typical troubled slopes of Gipskeuper with sinkholes, furrowed hollows, standing crooked fruit tree trunks and oscillating on the map contour lines. In the upper valley are left on the middle slope above the Corbula Bank of Gipskeuper such as platforms, the two small plateaus Lindenbühl and Birnbach, which are tilled. In the area of the quarry at the mouth of the creek crosses the fault line of Vellberger fault whose northeastern plaice towards the southwest to dozens of meters is lower, so the brook quite abruptly changes here in the limestone. The disorder is currently (as of 2010) can clearly be seen at the edge of the escarpment of the quarry before the hammer mountain on a layer offset ( low floe north-east ).

Character

The creek is up to the entry into the open hall, also in the tributaries, quite natural. In the wide valley you can see, the further down the valley, the more of course and bed profile human intervention. By the quarry, its lowest working level lies deep beneath the stream level, the Lanzenbach will run underground or inconspicuous in a recessed groove next to a service road. The settlement in the valley is limited to the two mentioned Vellberger hamlet. Besides these is touched by the catchment area only Steinehaig.
