Lao Khwan District

Amphoe Lao Khwan ( Thai: อำเภอ เลาขวัญ ) is a district ( Amphoe ) in the eastern part of the province of Kanchanaburi. The Kanchanaburi province to the west of Central Thailand on the border with Myanmar.

Geography

The neighboring districts are (from the south clockwise): Amphoe Huai the Krachao, Bo Nong Prue Phloi and the province of Kanchanaburi, Amphoe Dan Chang and Nong Ya Sai, Don Chedi and U Thong Suphanburi province.

History

First settlers from Laos came here to close Ban Ko and Ban Kao to establish a new village. Later inhabitants moved added from today's county Bo Phloi. When the government einrichtete a new city, it was therefore Ban Lao Khwan (literally around the village of Lao happiness ) called.

On 1 October 1971, the sub-district ( King Amphoe ) Lao Khwan was set up by the three Tambon Lao Khwan, Nong Sano and Nong Pradu Amphoe Phanom Thuan were separated from. On September 8, 1976 Lao Khwan got the full Amphoe status.

Management

The circle is divided into seven subdistricts (tambon ), which are further subdivided into 82 villages ( Muban ).

There are two small towns ( thesaban tambon) in the district:

  • Lao Khwan ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล เลาขวัญ ) consists of parts of the tambon Lao Khwan,
  • Nong Fai ( Thai: เทศบาล ตำบล หนอง ฝ้าย ) consists of parts of the tambon Nong Fai.

In addition, there are seven " Tambon Administrative Organizations" (TAO, องค์การ บริหาร ส่วน ตำบล - administrative organizations) in the district.
