Laodicea
Laodicea (Greek: Λαοδικεία; Latin: Laodicea, in Germanized form of Laodicea, sometimes Laodicea ) is the name of at least six ancient cities that were named in the Hellenistic period after the Seleucid queen Laodice of the 3rd century BC. These include:
- Laodicea ad Mare, today Latakia, Syria
- Laodicea on the Lycus, near the present Denizli, Turkey, once Metropolis of Phrygia Pakatiane. It is the last of the seven churches which responds John in the Apocalypse ( Revelation 3:14-22 see ). This city was also the scene of the Council of Laodicea in the 4th century.
- Laodicea Katakekaumene in Galatia
