Lapa (Rio de Janeiro)

Lapa is an area of the center of Rio de Janeiro. It is known for its architecture, especially the "Arches of Lapa " ( Arcos da Lapa ), which were built in colonial times and served as aqueducts. Up to an accident on the tram in a district Rios drove to the aqueduct, the trams to the Santa Teresa district. The church " Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Lapa " is another testimony of the ancient architecture.
