LAPB

Link Access Procedure Balanced ( LAPB ) is a layer - 2 protocol (Link Access Protocol ) in the sense of the OSI layer model and is used to secure the data transmission within the layer 2 in X.25 networks. It is a variant of the High- Level Data Link Control (HDLC ).

It describes the operating modes Asynchronous Balanced Mode distinguished (ABM ) and ADM; the combination of ABM and ADM is referred to in ISO 7809 as a class Balanced Asynchronous Class ( BAC), which is to distinguish turn towards the classes Universal Access Control ( UAC) and UNC.

LAPB is defined in ISO 7776th
