Lapeer County, Michigan
The Lapeer County is a county located in the state of Michigan in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Lapeer.
The Lapeer County is a part of Metro Detroit, the metropolitan region around the city of Detroit.
Geography
The County is located in the southeast of the Lower Peninsula of Michigan, is in the northeast about 45 miles from Lake Huron, one of the Great Lakes, away and has an area of 1717 square kilometers, of which 23 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered by the following counties:
History
The Lapeer County was formed in 1822 from parts of Oakland County and St Clair County. It was named after the French La Pierre.

According to the census in 2000 lived in Lapeer County 87 904 people in 30 729 households, and 23,876 families. The population density was 52 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was made up of 96.17 percent White, 0.82 percent African American, 0.38 percent Native American, 0.39 percent Asian, 0.01 percent of residents from the Pacific Islander and 1.07 percent from other races groups; 1.16 per cent were descended from two or more races. 3.11 per cent of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race, were members of the various groups mentioned.
Of the 30 729 households out of which 38.3 percent of children under the age of 18 living with them. 65.7 percent were married couples living together, 8.1 percent were single mothers and 22.3 percent were non-families. 18.5 percent of all households and 6.9 percent had someone living alone at the age of 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.80 and the average family size is 3.19 people.
28.0 percent of the population were under 18 years old. 7.7 percent 18 to 24 years 31.0 percent between 25 and 44, 23.8 percent between 45 and 64 years, and 9.6 percent were 65 years or older. The average age was 36 years. For every 100 females there were 102.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over 101.1 males.
The median income for a household was $ 51,717, and the median income for a family $ 57,817. Males had a median income of $ 47,506, women $ 26,385. The per capita income was $ 21,462. 3.8 percent of families and 5.4 percent of the population lived below the poverty line.
