LaPorte County is a county located in the state of Indiana in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is LaPorte.

Geography

The County is located in northern Indiana, bordered by Michigan, on the northwest by Lake Michigan and has an area of ​​1588 square kilometers, of which 38 square kilometers are water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Berrien County ( Michigan), St. Joseph County, Starke County, Jasper County and Porter County.

History

LaPorte County was formed on January 9, 1832 from parts of St. Joseph County.
