LARC-V

A Lighter Amphibious Resupply Cargo ( LARC ) ( German about: Amphibious Nachversorgungsleichter ) is an amphibious vehicle of a developed in the 1950s in the U.S. vehicle family. They are used to bring troops and supplies from ships at sea, on land, without being dependent on the port infrastructure.

There were three types of different sizes for 5, 15 and 60 t payload with the names LARC V, LARC XV or LARC LX. For the LARC LX the name BARC ( Barge, Amphibious Resupply, Cargo) was intended originally. In contrast to the aluminum hull of the LARC V and XV of LARC LX has a steel hull.

LARCs were introduced in large numbers in the United States Navy and exported to other countries. Of the three types of this family acquired the German Navy 1965/1966 a total of 247 pieces, which have since been sold again.
