Laredo Bucks

The Laredo Bucks were an American ice hockey team from Laredo, Texas in the Central Hockey League, a North American minor league. Its home games wearing the team in the 8,000- seater Laredo Entertainment Center.

History

After the great success of the Central Hockey League in southern Texas ' to Laredo decided to found the first professional sports franchise in the city. On 12 August 2002 the construction of the 46.5 million U.S. dollars expensive, ultramodern Laredo Entertainment Center was decided after the citizens had taken a tax increase in purchase. Today the arena by SMG Management Group operates.

The newly founded team started 2002/ 03 in the Southeast Division and thus in the Southern Conference in his first CHL season. Already this season, an average attendance of 6,200 (78 % utilization ) in the regular season and 6,500 visitors (81 % occupancy ) was achieved in the play-offs. In the seasons 2003/ 04 and 2005/ 06 the team's Ray Miron President's Cup and thus the championship of the CHL won. At the finals in 2005 and 2007, the Bucks failed due to the Colorado Eagles, respectively. In addition, the Bucks, the title of the Southeast Division won in the 2003-2008 five times in a row.

Since its inception in 2002 to 2007, the Laredo Bucks worked with the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL from 2002 to 2005, there were the Florida Panthers cooperation partners in the NHL. From 2005 to 2007, the Bucks farm team of the Phoenix Coyotes of the NHL.

After the 2011/12 season the Laredo Bucks presented with immediate effect the operation of gambling. Then the team was sold and relocated to Saint Charles, Missouri, where it participates with the beginning of the season 2013/14 under the name of St. Charles Churchill on league operation of the Central Hockey League.
