Larive

Jean Maudit de Larive ( born August 6 1747 in La Rochelle, † April 30, 1827 in Montlignon ) was a French actor.

Jean Maudit de Larive, debuted in 1770 at the Théâtre -Français in Paris and received after the death of Henri Louis Lekains ( 1778), the first roles as Warwich, Philoctetes, Orosman, Spartacus, etc., in which he appeared to his compatriots as a classic example.

During the Reign of Terror he was imprisoned and put in charge state, however, saved by his clerk, who managed to put aside all regard for his trial papers.

Before the success of François -Joseph Talma he later withdrew from the stage.

He left a Cours de declamation (par. 1804-1810, 3 Tle ), which is estimated today. He also wrote: Réflexions sur l'art théâtral (1801 ) and a lyrical scene: Pyrame et Thisbe (1784 ).
