Lark

Skylark ( Alauda arvensis)

The Larks ( Alaudidae ) are a diverse family in the order of perching birds ( Passeriformes ), subordination songbirds ( Passeres ). The family includes 92 species.

Larks are small to medium-sized, ground-dwelling birds. The song is often carried forward in flight. On the ground bounce larks not, but they run. They nest on the ground and place two to six speckled eggs. The animals are usually normal and not colored differently according to gender. Most species have a slender beak. They feed on seeds and insects.

In Low German was also the bird lark; survived is named in the Grimm version of the tale The Singing springing lark. At the same parts of words, the Dutch term refers Leeuweriken.
