The Larnaca Airport ( Larnaca International Airport ) is the airport of Larnaca town and the main international airport of Cyprus. It is located five kilometers south of the city center and 40 kilometers south-east of Nicosia.

Airlines and destinations

2010/11 flying from German speaking countries: Austrian to Vienna Lufthansa to Frankfurt and Munich, Swiss to Zurich, as well as Cyprus Airways to Frankfurt, Munich, Vienna and Zurich, to Weeze Ryanair next seasonal Air Berlin from Nuremberg, Condor from several German airports, and Edelweiss Air from Zurich and Geneva. Eurocypria had several German targets in the program, but had to stop its operations in November 2010.

History

After the closure of the airport due to the Nicosia Cyprus conflict, a new international airport in 1974 on an old British military airfield temporarily opened. In 1975, the terminal was built in prefabricated construction.

In November 2009 a new terminal was opened. It has an area of 98,000 square meters and has 16 passenger boarding bridges. A further extension to 2013 is planned. The old terminal was originally to be demolished, but was then bought by a Chinese company, is a planned commercial center of Chinese companies.

Approach

The airport is accessible via the A3. The city of Larnaca is good by taxi (fixed price ) and city bus lines 431, 440, 418, 419 and 417 to reach. These buses leave from the departure level of the airport. On the arrivals level there is a small bus terminal for long distance buses; this control to, among other cities Agia Napa, Limassol and Nicosia.
