Larrivoire

Larrivoire is a commune in the French department of Jura in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Larrivoire is located on 723 m above sea level. M., about eight kilometers southwest of the town of Saint- Claude ( a straight line ). The farming village extends in the Jura, a scenic location on a terrace on the southern flank of Bienne, some 350 m above the valley floor, west of the height of the Combe Mathieu.

The area of ​​6.50 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the French Jura. The central part is occupied by the narrow terrain terrace of Larrivoire which is dominated by the steep slope in the southeast of Combe Mathieu. The Combe Mathieu forms a largely wooded plateau to an average of 950 m above sea level. M. and separates the valleys of Bienne and Tacon. At the eastern edge municipality is 1010 m above sea level. M. reached the highest elevation of Larrivoire. The western boundary runs along the Longviry, a left tributary of Bienne, is deeply incised in the Jura mountains.

To Larrivoire addition to the actual site also includes the hamlet Samiset (610 m above sea level. M. ) on a saddle between the slope of Larrivoire and foothills and Samiat (710 m above sea level. M. ) on the grounds terrace southwest of the village. Neighboring communities of Larrivoire are Chassal and Saint- Claude in the north, Coiserette in the east, Les Bouchoux and Vulvoz in the south and Rogna and Molinges in the West.

History

Is first mentioned in the 13th century Larrivoire. It was the property of the Abbey of Saint -Claude. To a field change occurred in 1811, when the two small communities Samiat and Samiset merged with Larrivoire. In July 1944, the town was plundered and destroyed by German troops.

Population

With 110 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Larrivoire one of the smallest towns in the Jura. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1886 205 persons were still counted ), a population increase was after a prolonged period of stagnation since the mid- 1980s thanks to its beautiful location again recorded.

Economy and infrastructure
