Larry Dickson

Larry Dickson ( born September 8, 1938 in Marietta ) is a retired American race car driver.

Larry Dickson was one of the most successful USAC sprint car drivers in the history of this race series. 43 victories he achieved in 1968, 1970 and 1975, winning the championship. These years were marked by the constant duels of Dickson and Gary Bettenhausen, the 1969 and 1971 won the championship. From 1965 to 1981 Dickson drove 105 races in the USAC series and the successor Championship, the CART series. Although he came in the top ten 44 times, a great victory was denied him. Best place was the second rank in Springfield in 1968.

Eight times he was with the 500-mile race at Indianapolis at the start. He made his debut in 1966, he drove his last race in 1981, when he was Eighteen with a factory Penske. His best result was the ninth rank in 1969 in a Vollstedt Ford. Also in NASCAR he was in some selected events at the start.

Dickson lives in Indianapolis and works as a financial advisor.
