Lars-Ã…ke Lagrell

Lars -Åke Lagrell (born 20 January 1940 in Älmeboda in Växjö ) is a Swedish football official and politician.

Career

Lagrell operated in sports when IK Cyrus in Jönköping. In 1974 he began his official career as chairman of the Football Association of Småland and moved in 1980 to the board of the Swedish Football Association. In 1985, he gave this office in favor of the post of Secretary General of the National Association in 1986, and laid down also the chair of the Association of Småland. Until his election as President of Svenska Fotbollförbundet 1991, he served as Secretary-General.

From 1986 Lagrell committed at the international level for the sport of football. During his time as Secretary-General SvFF he sat as a member of the UEFA Futsal Committee for the development of this niche sport; between 1996 and 2000 he was also in the UEFA Club Competitions Committee. 2002 he was appointed Göran Persson President of the Government ( Landshövding ) of the County of Kronoberg County, until 2006, he remained in office. The parallel pursuit of two offices was controversial, as both tasks require much time. In 2004, he was also a member of the Board of Directors responsible for the orientation of the 2004 European Championship Euro 2004 SA.

In December 2010 Lagrell announced his resignation as Chairman of Association for the year 2012.
