Lars Danielsson

Lars Danielsson ( born September 5, 1958 in Gothenburg, Sweden) is a Swedish jazz bassist and cellist.

Danielsson first studied classical cello at the Music Conservatory in Gothenburg; under the impression of a jazz concert with Niels -Henning Ørsted Pedersen, he turned to jazz music.

He worked with Mwendo Dawa, the singer Cæcilie Norby, saxophonist Rick Margitza, guitarist John Abercrombie, trumpet player Kenny Wheeler and drummer Trilok Gurtu, recorded with Lars Jansson's Trio 84 and the Eternal Now and the Lars Jansson Trio and was a member by Hans Ulrik Jazzpar 99 Combo ( with John Scofield and Peter Erskine ) and Carsten Dahl Jazzpar 2000 Combo ( with Tony Coe ).

With saxophonist David Liebman, pianist Bobo Stenson and drummer Jon Christensen in 1985 he founded the Lars Danielsson Quartet, with whom he (some with guests) recorded 10 albums. He also played with Billy Hart, Charles Lloyd, Terri Lyne Carrington, Christopher Dell and John Enders. In recent years, he also worked as a composer, arranger and producer for the Danmarks Radio RUO Orchestra and for Cæcilie Norby, Jonas Johansen and Viktoria Tolstoy. As Artist in Residence at the Jazz Baltica Festival in 2004, he led the Jazz Baltica Ensemble.

His last five CDs, he published under his own name with the German record label ACT.
