Lars-Emil Johansen

Lars -Emil Johansen (* September 24 1946 in Illorsuit, community Uummannaq ) is a Greenlandic politician ( Siumut ) and since April 2013 chairman of the Greenland Parliament Inatsisartut.

From 1971 to 1975 he was a member of the Greenland Provincial ( Grønlands Landsråd ), the forerunner of today's Parliament. There he was a member from 1979 to 1997 and again from 2005. In the Danish Folketing he sat from 1973 to 1979 and again from 2001 to 2011., He founded with two colleagues the North Atlantic group that he left in August 2009, after Siumut the old fraction Community had renewed with the Danish sister party. In the general election in 2011, he had to defer to his party colleague Doris Jakobsen.

From 1971 to 1979 he was a member of the Greenland Council ( Grønlandsrådet ), who had replaced the Greenland Committee of the Folketing in 1964 and was disbanded with the introduction of Greenland's autonomy in 1979. So Johansen joined the newly created autonomous government, where he was responsible for economic and 1986. In 1991 he became prime minister and remained until 1997, in office.

From 1987 to 1997 he was also Chairman of the Social Democratic Party Siumut. In addition, he had and has held numerous board positions in Greenlandic companies.
