Lars Grini

Lars Grini ( born June 29, 1944 in Gran ) is a former Norwegian ski jumper.

Career

Grini, who started for the club Sondre Ål Sportsklubb and later for Lyn IL initially began jumping on the Flaagenbakken in his hometown Gran He made ​​his international debut at the Four Hills Tournament 1965/66. After a 80th place in Oberstdorf and a 62nd place in Innsbruck, he reached in Bischofshofen space 24 and thus at the end of the tour the 71st place overall. After he did not compete in the following year at the tour and in Voss behind Bent Tomtum won the silver medal on the normal hill at the Norwegian Championships in 1967, he reached the podium at the Four Hills Tournament 1967/68 in Oberstdorf and finished behind Dieter Neuendorf second. He was surprisingly ahead of his hitherto dominant compatriot Bjørn Wirkola. In Garmisch -Partenkirchen and Innsbruck, he was able to convince the sixth and seventh again. In Oberstdorf succeeded Grini the first ski jumper to surpass the 150 -meter mark, which at the time was synonymous with the World's ski jumping record. He had previously had set up in the year with 147 m in Oberstdorf.

At the 1968 Olympic Games in Grenoble, which were also seen as Nordic World Ski Championships, Grini won the bronze medal in the large hill. From the normal hill he ended up in 13th place. Shortly after the games again succeeded winning the silver medal at the Norwegian championships on the normal hill. In the Four Hills Tournament 1968/69 he started weakly with the 69th place in Oberstdorf, but managed to fight back again into the world top within the shortest possible time and missed in Innsbruck with the fourth rank only just short of the podium, which he, however, with the third place in Bischofshofen shortly afterwards reached. In the end, it was enough for ninth place in the overall standings.

The Four Hills Tournament 1969/70 he started with two fourth places in Oberstdorf and Garmisch -Partenkirchen could but in Innsbruck at this power not build and then suspended in Bischofshofen. In the Norwegian Championships 1973 in Fåvang he won his second national title on the normal hill in front of Frithjof Prydz and Bent Tomtum. A year later he won the title in Meldal on the large hill. It was his last national success.
