Lars Jonsson (ice hockey)

Lars Jonsson Lasse ( born January 2, 1982 in Borlänge ) is a retired Swedish professional ice hockey player who was active in the Swedish Elitserien during his career for Leksand IF, Timrå IK, HV 71 Jönköping and Brynäs IF.

Career

Lars Jonsson began his career as a hockey player in his youth from Leksand IF, for the first team, he was active from 1999 to 2004 in the Elitserien, as well as the HockeyAllsvenskan, reaching with his team in the 2001/ 02 season, the rise in the Elitserien. During this time he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2000 in the first round as the seventh overall player of the Boston Bruins, for whom he never played, however. In the season 2002/ 03 the defender also completed some games for the second division side IF Björklöven and IFK Arboga.

After one year each at Timrå IK and HV71 Jonkoping the Swede was taken on July 1, 2006 as a free agent by the Philadelphia Flyers under contract, for which he gave in the 2006/07 season two assists in eight games. However, the majority of these and the following season spent Jonsson in the Flyers farm team of the American Hockey League, the Philadelphia Phantoms.

After two years in North America, the former youth international returned to his native Sweden, where he was engaged by the first division Brynäs IF. After the 2012/13 season, he finished his career.

Internationally

For Sweden, Jonsson took part in the U18 World Youth Championship in 2000, as well as the U20 Junior World Cup 2002 part.
