Lars Larsen (entrepreneur)

Lars Larsen ( born August 6, 1948 in Hurup, today Thisted Municipality ) is a Danish entrepreneur. He is the founder and owner of the Group JYSK Holding ( Danish camp bed ) and is considered the sixth richest man in Denmark. His personal fortune was estimated in 2010 to 17.5 billion Danish kroner (approx. 2.4 billion Euros ).

Life

Larsen comes from a modest background. He was born in Thy Hurup in the northwestern Denmark. After his apprenticeship, which he completed in a craft business, he was employed in a furniture store. For his business idea to operate a chain store as a bed camp, he was able to win a small bank in Vodskov in Aalborg. Here, the Group maintains a bank account today.

His success began with the opening of a specialty shop for bedroom furniture ( Jysk Sengetøjslager ) in Aarhus on 2 April 1979, the rapidly more stores in Europe and America followed.
