Lars Ulrik Mortensen

Lars Ulrik Mortensen ( born November 9, 1955 in Esbjerg ) is a Danish harpsichordist and conductor.

Life

Mortensen studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen with Karen Englund (harpsichord ) and Jesper Christensen Bøje ( basso ), he continued his studies with the harpsichordist Trevor Pinnock in London continued. From 1988 to 1990 Mortensen was a member of the ensemble London Baroque harpsichordist from 1990 to 1993, he played in the Collegium Musicum 90 Simon Standage below. He frequently collaborates with musicians such as John Holloway, Jaap ter Linden and Emma Kirkby. The recordings that were created under his involvement, received awards such as the Diapason d'Or, Grammy and Cannes Classical Award.

Since the late 1990s, Mortensen occurs increasingly as a conductor in appearance, so since 1999 as artistic director of Concerto Copenhagen and since 2004 one of the guest conductors of the Baroque Orchestra of the European Union, which it was previously connected as harpsichord tutor.

Mortensen taught at various music academies in Denmark and was from 1996 to 1999 professor of harpsichord and historical performance practice at the Musikhochschule in Munich, before he decided on a career of performing musician. Mortensen are still numerous master classes and is often represented in juries at international music competitions.
