Lartia (gens)

The Larcier (Latin gene Larcia ) was a Roman gene with the noun Larcius. The name is of Etruscan origin, namely, the Latinized form of the Etruscan family name " Larcna ". The Larcier belonged to the Roman tradition claimed in the early years of the Roman Republic to the patricians and made two outstanding consuls, Spurius Larcius and Titus Larcius flavus.

Robert Werner maintains the Larcier historical figures, since the gentile name of Etruscan origin and the Larcier are mentioned only in the early phase of the Republic, later interpolations are therefore not to be supposed, however, dated Spurius and Titus Larcius in the late monarchic period, so that the offices of the Larcier should be deleted in the early phase of the republic. Josef Ambros Pfiffig holds the consulates of Larcier for historical and sees a high incidence of office-holders of Etruscan origin to 475 an argument that the Roman Republic was first built around 475, Rome had stood at least until then under strong Etruscan influence.

Only in the imperial period the name Larcius appeared again strengthened; are intervening in time only a Larcius M. L. f in Caere and witnessed sporadic representative in Rome.
