Las Torres de Cotillas

Las Torres de Cotillas is a municipality in the Autonomous Community of Murcia in southeast Spain.

Climate

The former Kingdom of Murcia (now Región de Murcia) is one of the driest areas in Europe. Summer temperatures often rise above 40 ° C with only 340 mm of rain per year. The lack of water is a constant problem and plays a large role in politics. Flora and fauna are influenced by the Mediterranean climate. The winters are mild.

Geography

The municipality of Las Torres de Cotillas is in the midst of Huerta murciana, 15 km from the regional capital of Murcia, 82 meters above the sea level. Las Torres de Cotillas encloses an area of 39 km ² and has 21 565 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013). In the north of Las Torres de Cotillas borders Alguazas. As a natural border serves the Río Mula. To the west lie Campos del Rio Murcia and in the south and separates the Río Segura Las Torres de Cotillas of Molina de Segura.
