Lasing threshold

The laser threshold or pumping threshold refers to the minimum required pumping power of a laser, in which balance out profit by supplying energy and loss by absorption in the laser medium and extraction of the emission generated straight. This intensity threshold is thus at the point above which the laser starts to work.

In laser diodes is usually no power but an amperage specified because these lasers are pumped with direct current, this size is easily measurable and fixable. In this case, the name threshold current is used.
