Lasse Lehtinen

Lasse Lehtinen Antero ( born January 23, 1947 in Kotka ) is a Finnish politician of the Social Democratic Party of Finland and currently a member of the European Parliament. He is also active as a journalist, writer and television producer.

Biography

Lasse Lehtinen was born in 1947 in Kotka. From 1957 to 1965 he went to Kuopio to school. He studied philosophy, he graduated from the University of Stockholm, where he graduated with a Master of Arts in 1977. In 2002 he completed his habilitation in Oulu and was awarded the Doctor of Philosophy.

Lehtinen has worked as a journalist since 1962. He worked from 1966 to 1969 at Yhtyneet Kuvalehdet and then another three years Yleisradio as editor. Since 1993 he is also active as a producer and writer for television. From 1999 to 2005 he was in a total of 212 episodes hosted the show Haluatko miljonääriksi? , The Finnish edition of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? .

In 1968, Lehtinen Member of the City Council Kuopio, a position he held until 1980. From 1972 to 1983 he was a member of the Finnish Parliament, after which he worked until 1990 as a diplomat, only the Finnish Foreign Ministry and then in the Finnish Embassy in London. In 1990, he supported Martti Ahtisaari in his presidential election campaign as a designer.

2004 Lehtinen was elected to the European Parliament, where he is Deputy Chairman of the Delegation for relations with Canada. He is a member of the Socialist Group in the European Parliament.

Lehtinen has already written 30 books. He has been married since 1976 and has a grown son.
