Lasse Ottesen

Lasse Ottesen ( born April 8, 1974 in Oslo ) is a former Norwegian ski jumper and ski coach.

Ottesen took from 1991 to 2001 in international competitions. He started for the club Aurskog - Finstadbru Sportsklubb. A wider audience, he became known in the Four Hills Tournament 1993/94, as he sat there as the fourth- last starter in the second round for several minutes on the start bar at the conclusion in Bischofshofen, while the previously weak tail wind was getting stronger. By so deteriorated conditions of launching immediately after him Jens Weißflog no good jump could perform and fell in the Tournament standings but still behind Ottesen compatriot Espen Bredesen back, then again vorfand as the last starter in the second round better conditions. Weißflog felt by Ottesen cheated out of his fourth tour victory, and Ottesen was disqualified.

The biggest success in his career was winning the silver medal on the normal hill at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer in the same year. In the Nordic World Ski Championships 1995 in Thunder Bay, he was fourth on the large hill. In 1997 he presented in Planica with a 212 meters world record that was set two years later. In Ski Jumping World Cup he could reach a total of nine podium finishes. Throughout his career, Ottesen was five times Norwegian Champion.

After the 2000/2001 season Ottesen finished his career as a knight. He then worked as a jump coach of the Norwegian Nordic Combiner. In 2004 he moved to the U.S. combiners, first as a jump coach and since 2006 as head coach. Since 1 May 2008, he is an assistant coach alongside Mika Kojonkoski for the senior team of the Norwegian ski jumper.

Since 2012 he is active as Race Director of the International Ski Federation FIS Nordic Combined.

Ottesen is married and has two children.
