Last Gospel

With the conclusion Gospel ends a Tridentine mass.

The priest reads the Gospel side most of the canon panel located there the beginning of John's Gospel (John 1:1-14 ).

Previously, he greets the people with Dominus Vobiscum (English: "The Lord be with you" ), after which the congregation responds: Et cum spiritu tuo (German: " And also with you ").

Hereupon priests, the Levites, acolyte and congregation cross themselves with the triple sign of the cross and the priest announces the words Initium sancti Gospel secundum Ioannem (German: "At the beginning of the holy Gospel according to John " ) the following passage from the gospel. The people replied: Gloria tibi, Domine (German: "Glory to Thee, O Lord ").

The words Et Verbum caro factum est. (German: "And the Word became flesh " ) makes everyone involved a squat. The Gospel ends with the response of the people: Deo Gratias (German: "Thanks be to God "). Under certain circumstances may lead to reading a different gospel.
