Lattice steel pylon

A lattice tower is a tower-like structure in truss construction. It is widely used for overhead lines, traction current lines, cranes ( tower crane ), large antenna structures or for wind turbines used.

Freileitungsmasten

In the embodiment as a pylon there is a lattice mast of a steel truss structure. Lattice masts can be used for cables of all voltages, but their use for cables with operating voltages below 50 kV is rather rare. For cables with operating voltages above 50 kV lattice towers are the most used form of pylons. Lattice towers are bolted together usually at the site of items. This also allows the realization of very high structures (typically up to 100 meters, in special cases such as the Elbe crossing 1 and Elbe crossing 2 more). The installation of pylons can be done with a crane - to impassable places also by helicopter, but often is also a kind of pulley system that uses Derrick (or tree Stock ) for it.

Lattice masts consist usually of angle profiles ( L- or T-beams ). Tubular lattice structures are rare in Germany. Truss are very high lattice masts, especially for the lower parts, often used.

Lattice masts can be removed if necessary and possibly rebuilt at a new location. However, this in practice quite common practice is only in constructions that are in good condition, reasonable.

Antenna mast

Lattice towers can be used as an antenna mast, often on a lattice tower with a high-voltage line.

In the yacht building there, especially in the DIY scene of experiments and projects with triangular tube lattice towers to construct light sailing masts.
