Latvian Bishops' Conference

The Latvian Episcopal Conference ( lett: Latvijas Bīskapu konference ) is the national Roman Catholic Bishops' Conference of Bishops in Latvia. It has its headquarters in Riga and is a member of the Council of European Bishops 'Conferences ( CCEE ) and the Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Community ( COMECE). It was founded as a coordination point of Latvian bishops on 15 November 1997 and held its first Constituent Assembly and on 29 June 1998, starting with a Pontifical Mass at the Basilica of Aglona from. Its first president was Jānis Pujats Cardinal, Archbishop of Riga.
