Geography

Run is in the range of the Black Forest Nature Park Central / North on the western slopes of the Black Forest at the output of Laufbachtals in the Upper Rhine Valley in 200-1010 meters above sea level. The running brook that gave the place its name originates on the northwest slope of the Hornisgrinde.

Almost half of its territory is forested. In Laufbachtal and its side valleys, much of the original plant species abundance, such as wildflower meadows has remained with some native orchid species can be obtained.

History

The first documentary mention (as Löuffe ) was made in 1383. The place belonged first to the Imperial Austrian country Ortenau. Since 1805, the village belonged to the Grand Duchy of Baden, where she was assigned to the Office 1807 Buhl, was from the 1939 County Buhl. With the dissolution of the place came in 1973 the newly formed Ortenaukreis.

Culture and sights

Run home to some cultural and historical attractions.

Since 1648, the name St. Leonhard is connected to the church running. At that time the first village church was consecrated in running St. Leonard. The Abbot Leonhard von Noblac was worshiped as a great benefactor and helper in distress and as the patron saint of horses and cattle. The horses and the blessing Leonhardusritt remember in November of Leonhard von Noblac.

Structures

The Castle Neu - Windeck was built around 1300 and is a landmark of running. The castle is located on a hill surrounded the place.

Running as a wine community has a wine wine press from the 16th century, discovered and restored in the 1970s. It weighs nearly 15 tons and is located in the Trott House.

The baroque castle Aubach was built 1835-1840.

Sport and leisure facilities

A starting point for paragliders and hang gliders is located on the Sodkopf at the foot of Hornisgrinde. Running is also the starting point of some mountain biking, hiking and Nordic walking routes.

Education

In running there with the Neuwindeck - school have a primary school as well as with Ottersweier a common Werkrealschule. There is also a Roman Catholic kindergarten and a Roman Catholic daycare. The latter means the building is owned by the municipality.
