Laugavegur

Its total length is 54 km and at its highest point it reaches in Hrafntinnusker 1050 meters. You could extend the tour over the Pass Fimmvörðuháls to the coast at Skógar - one runs there over cooled lava of Eyjafjallajökull, which erupted in May 2010.

The possible start and end points Landmannalaugar, Þórsmörk Skógar and can easily be reached in summer by bus from Reykjavík. The hike takes four days ( possibly one day later on the pass Fimmvörðuháls ) to complete and is well signposted. Heading located at a distance of day trips cottages with fully equipped kitchens, but they are usually booked up in high summer. Meals must be taken, however, the kitchen can be used in the cottages. Camping is possible and permissible only there at the huts. It is requested to keep to the marked path and protect the vegetation.

About the Name

The name is exactly like that of his namesake in Reykjavík at the hot springs ( Isl laugar ) due to which he touches, such as in Landmannalaugar.
