Laugna (river)

The Laugna is a 20.7 km long, right or southern tributary of cooperation in Bavarian Swabia in the counties Augsburg and Dillingen on the Danube.

Course

The Laugna rises in the nobility Rieder basin, south of the motorway 8 and flows predominantly in a northerly direction through the nature park Augsburg Western Woods. After her run of Adelsried by the communes (or it is its limits) Bonstetten, Welden, Emersacker and Laugna opens the Laugna at Wertingen into the coupling, the downstream flows 19 km further in Donauwörth into the Danube.

History

The original Celtic name " Longna " was ( BC 15) adopted by the Roman occupiers. From it the present name was established in the course of time.

The German native writer Ludwig Ganghofer spent part of his childhood in Welden and mentioned several times in his works the Laugna, for example, in "The Life of an optimist ."
