Laura Bechtolsheimer

Laura Tomlinson, MBE (born 31 January 1985 in Mainz, Rhineland -Palatinate as Laura Bechtolsheimer ) is a British-Swiss dressage rider.

In December 2012, she was in the dressage world ranking of FEI with Mistral Hojris World Ranking List. With Andretti H it is also the 130th rank.

Career

Due to her parents (her father, the entrepreneur and Equestrian Sponsors Dr. Wilfried Bechtolsheimer, joined the European Dressage Championships in 1995 for Britain to ), Laura Tomlinson was already surrounded in their childhood of horses. As a result, she got her first pony at age three.

The interest of the dressage rider was early in her career versatility. At age 12, she won the National Championship of Independent Schools in the UK. Under the influence of her former trainer Ian Woodhead, who looked after up to the juniors, their interest grew in dressage. She won at the age of 14 years with her pony team silver medal at the Pony European Dressage. Since then she has every year a member of the British championship - team.

At 18, she changed to Markus Gribbe, now she is of her father and of Klaus Balkenhol (which they as their sporting role model specifies ) trained. In 2005 she was at the age of just 20 years, the youngest British champion by then. In 2007 she graduated from the Bristol University degree in philosophy and political science.

Since the European Championships 2009 in Windsor, and CDI5 * in Hickstead is Laura Tomlinson British record holder in the top three dressage tests: with 76.638 % in the Grand Prix with 80.083 % in the Grand Prix Spécial (Windsor ) and with 81.800 in the Grand Prix Freestyle ( Hickstead ).

These services could improve at the World Equestrian Games 2010 in Kentucky yet. So she reached with the 15- year-old Danish chestnut gelding Mistral Hojris in the Grand Prix of the team competition 82.511 % and was thus less than two percentage points behind the Dutch champion Edward Gal with the exceptional stallion Totilas. Laura Tomlinson said after that it was not only the highest score they've ever received, but also have been the best ride of her life. In the Grand Prix Spécial, the 25 -year-old Briton secured with 81.708 % also ranked second behind Edward Gal and hired their own British record. In the final Grand Prix Freestyle, rider and horse for her performance with 85.350 % and rank two, again behind the towering Dutchman rewarded. Three silver medals crown the achievements of the successful British rider.

At the Olympic Games in 2012, before a home crowd in London, she reached with Mistral Hojris in the individual competition, which was determined in the Grand Prix Freestyle, the bronze medal. A few days earlier the British dressage team had won the participation Tomlinson's first Olympic team gold.

Private

At the age of one year drew Laura Tomlinson with their parents from Frankfurt am Main to Ampney St Peter, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom to where her family operates a horse breeding and training stable. Since then, she has British citizenship.

Mother's side she is the granddaughter of the German billionaire Karl- Heinz Kipp. Since her mother many years ago in Arosa acquired the local Civil Rights, Laura Tomlinson has in addition to the British and Swiss nationality.

Since March 2013 she is married to the polo player Mark Tomlinson, with whom she dating since 2009 and had been engaged since August 2012. The church wedding took place in the village church Arosa on March 2, 2013. Among the numerous invited wedding guests, among others, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, William, Duke of Cambridge and Harry of Wales were. With the marriage she took the last name Tomlinson.
