Laura Carmichael

Laura Elizabeth Carmichael ( born 1986 in Southampton, Hampshire) is a British actress.

Life

Laura Carmichael was born in 1986 as the daughter of a software consultant and a radiologist in Southampton. She has a younger and an older sister. She attended Peter Symonds College and studied until 2007, acting at the Old Vic Theatre School in Bristol.

Carmichael was known from 2010 for her role as Lady Edith in the television series Downton Abbey. In 2011 she appeared in the spy film Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

In 2012 she made ​​her stage debut at the Vaudeville Theatre in London's West End in a production of Anton Chekhov's Uncle Vanya.
