Laura Ludwig
Laura Ludwig ( born January 13, 1986 in Berlin ) is a German beach volleyball player. She had been twice European champion and five times German champion.
Career
Ludwig began in 1994 at the Köpenick SC with the Volleyball Hall. In the season 2004/ 05 she was with Bayer Leverkusen and its long-standing partner Sara Goller Beach in all three finals. In the years 2009 and 2010, she helped in the second division from a few games at VfL Oythe.

As a beach volleyball player Ludwig has been active since 1999. First she played with Jana Köhler. The duo was founded in 2003 World and European Champion in the U18 age group. On 15 May 2004, she joined Sara Goller a new duo that gollerplusludwig marketed under the name and since November 1, 2005 was one of Hertha BSC. Trained by Olaf Kortmann young ladies celebrated the first joint success with the third place at the U23 European Championship 2004 in Brno. Laura Ludwig was also awarded the "Most Improved Player of the Year" of the FIVB 2007. Goller / Ludwig defended their national title this year in the final against Helke Claasen and Antje Röder. The biggest success of her career so far achieved by the two - choice Hamburg by winning the 2008 European Championship in their current place of residence. Shortly before, they had already secured qualification for the Olympic Games in Beijing. Season 2009
The year 2009 was the year of the third places for Laura Ludwig and Sara Goller. Bronze medals at the FIVB tournaments in Brasília, Moscow and Marseille and a third place at the German championships in Ahmann -Hager arena, came to a fourth place in Shanghai and three fifth places at FIVB tournaments. Only at the European Championships to Goller and Ludwig were able to secure the silver medal. This year Laura Ludwig broke from their partner as beach volleyball player of the year.
Season 2010
Successfully launched the two athletes from Hertha BSC in the year. In the Brasília Open, she defeated the first Olympic gold medalist Misty May- Treanor with her new partner Nicole Branagh and then the Brazilian duo Larissa / Juliana. In the final, Ludwig / Goller had to admit defeat, however, the two Brazilians as already thus shift the tournament in Portugal in 2007 and their first win at the FIVB Tour yet. After a fifth place in Marseille Ludwig / Goller reached in Klagenfurt for the fourth time in 2010 a medal rank. In the match for third place, the ladies of Hertha BSC defeated the Austrians Barbara Hansel and Sara Monday Olli, where they were still failed the semi-finals in the fight for a place in Marseille. According to a ninth place at the FIVB tournament in Poland, the two Germans won their second European Championship. In the final they defeated their compatriots Katrin Holt and Ilka Semmler Wick. Then Laura Ludwig was elected for the second time in a row beach volleyball player of the year. In the following FIVB tournament in Sanya she reached with her partner after victories over world champions Kessy and Ross as well as the double Olympic gold medalist and - time world champion Kerri Walsh and her partner Nicole Branagh turn the final, which was lost against the Chinese Xue and Zhang Xi. At the last event of the year in Thailand to Hamburg city occupied the fifth place after three wins and two defeats.
Season 2011
At the Beach Volleyball European Championship 2011 in Kristiansand Goller / Ludwig won the bronze medal. Then Laura Ludwig was elected for the third time in a row beach volleyball player of the year. At the German Championships, she was able to win the national title for the fourth time with Sara Goller. Not quite as successful as last year, the two Germans were at the FIVB World Tour. In addition to a silver medal in Stavanger they reached four other finishes in the top eight teams. The Myslowice Open Ludwig / Goller finished fourth in Brasilia and in Moscow they were each Fourth and Seventh in Åland. At the World Championships in Rome, she lost in the second round against May-Treanor/Walsh. At the end of Beach Tour Laura Ludwig was named Best Offensive Player of the Year.
Season 2012
The year of the Olympic Games in London Laura Ludwig and Sara Goller started with the fifth (Brasilia, Beijing) and ninth places (Shanghai, Moscow, Gstaad, Berlin, Klagenfurt) in the FIVB World Tour. In Rome they were stopped only in the finale of Kuhn / Zumkehr (SUI ). At the European Championships in Scheveningen (Netherlands) they finished ninth. Then they won the national tournament of the Smart Beach Tour on Norderney. At the Olympic Games in London, she reached the second place in the group stage and thus qualified for the knockout stages. There they met with Holt Wick / Semmler to the second German duo, who they defeated 2-0. Then they were subjected to the quarter-finals but the Brazilian team Larissa / Juliana with 0:2 and thus occupied the fifth place. Then Laura Ludwig was elected for the fourth time in a row beach volleyball player of the year. At the German Championships Goller / Ludwig resigned after two defeats from early and finished the tournament in seventh place. In September 2012, Goller resigned.
Season 2013
Laura Ludwig started off the 2013 season with their new partner Kira Walkenhorst for Hamburger SV. In the first tournament of the year, the CEV Satellite in Antalya ( Turkey) Ludwig / Walkenhorst reached the final, which they lost 0-2 against the Netherlands team van Gestel / Meppelink. After the first tournament of the world tour in Fuzhou ( China) could not play due to an injury of Walkenhorst, they got in Shanghai fifth place. In The Hague, they reached the ninth. At the World Championships in Stare Jabłonki Ludwig / Walkenhorst reached the quarter- finals where they were eliminated against the Chinese team Xue / Zhang Xi and occupied fifth place. At the European Championships in Klagenfurt they reached the third place. Towards the end of the season could Ludwig / Walkenhorst at the Grand Slam in Moscow and Sao Paulo each achieve a 2nd place ..
On the Smart Beach Tour they reached third place in Norderney, Hamburg and Münster. In August Ludwig was elected for the fifth time in a row Germany's beach volleyball player of the year and was finally Walkenhorst German masters.
