Laura Pous Tió

Laura Pous Tió ( born October 1, 1984 in Granollers ) is a Spanish tennis player.

Career

In 2000 Pous Tió played in the Spanish Tortosa her first ITF tournament. Since 2003 she has been a professional player. So far you won 13 ITF tournaments in singles and six in doubles. In 2005 she won at the Mediterranean Games gold medal in the final, she defeated her compatriot Nuria Llagostera Vives.

You could qualify for all four Grand Slam tournaments already in the main draw in singles, up to 2011 at the U.S. Open she never came, however, beyond the first round. In the same year she reached the French Open in women's doubles at the side of Lourdes Domínguez Lino her compatriot once the second round. Together with her, she had in April 2007, their only use in the Fed Cup, as the Spanish team in Moscow, Russia defeated with 0:5.

Barrier

On 19 June 2007 Pous Tió tested positive during the qualifying tournament of Wimbledon to the active substances hydrochlorothiazide and amiloride. She justified this by saying that she had taken the drug because of an injury Amerid in which the banned substances were probably included (which they have not known ). The ITF rated their behavior as gross negligence and locked Pous Tió for doping for two years.
