Laura Veccia Vaglieri

Laura Vecchia Vaglieri (* 1893, † 1989) was an Italian scholar of Islam and Arabist at the University of Naples L' Orientale.

She was the daughter of the famous archaeologist Vaglieri Dante (1865-1913) and became the Islam with great sympathy towards. After a brief study on the Tunisian customary law for the Italian Colonial Office in 1917, she wrote in 1925 a defense for this religion ( Apologia dell ' islamismo ), which was translated into many languages ​​, including into German ( Apology of Islam.
