Laurence Rosenthal

Laurence Rosenthal ( * November 4, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan, United States) is an American composer of film scores.

Life

Laurence Rosenthal graduated from the Eastman School of Music and studied composition with Nadia Boulanger in Paris two years. His career took him to Salzburg, where he was engaged as a conductor at the Mozarteum. During World War II Rosenthal fought in the United States Air Force, and was able to thanks to his talent, ascend to the composer for reconnaissance and propaganda films of the U.S. Army.

After the war, Rosenthal settled in New York City, and began to compose the music for plays. 1955 Rosenthal debuted as a composer his first feature film, the U.S. Westerns Yellowneck. Rosenthal is in great demand composer, who composed in his more than 50 year career for over 110 films and television series. He was twice for an Oscar, and just as often nominated for a Golden Globe Award - an award but was always denied.

In 2006 he was honored by the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers with an ASCAP Award for his life's work.
